Michigan City Light, Michigan City. Built in 1858 and served as a major harbor beacon until 1904, when it was replaced by a new structure on the east pier (see below). Served as keeper's residence until 1940, and was abandoned by the Coast Guard in 1960. Currently maintained by the Michigan City Historical Society and houses a lighthouse museum.
Michigan City East Pier Light, Michigan City. Placed in service on October 20, 1904.The orginal fifth order fresnel lens is now on display in the Michigan City Lighthouse Museum (see above) after being replaced by an Amerace Rotating Plastic Beacon. The breakwater and pier were recently renovated by the local community. Also visible in the backgound is the Michigan City Breakwater Light (1911).
