Silent beacons of the night, lighthouses have guided sailors and ships at sea safely through the darkness. Although no longer crucial to nautical navigation, hundreds of operational lighthouses still exist today. Some are still manned, but most have since been automated.

These are the records of our personal journeys to find and view the lighthouses of the United States and Canada. Many of our vacations were planned with "lighthouse hunting" as the informal theme. Within this site you will find the photographic records of our travels as well as our observations along the way. No lighthouses were included unless we were personally able to view and photograph them, however tiny and distant.
